Most of you suspect that there could be more to life than that you can see around you. It is too simplistic to believe that you are everything, that the human is the only living being and that there is nothing beyond your physical life on earth. Of course there is more and I wish I could explain in the words of your limited vocabulary the place that is your true home.
In a simplistic way you could describe your life as birth, a period of living and then death, but there is so much more to it than that. Your true home is here with me in a place that only I can see. You are born into your physical body, you live your physical life and then you return here to me. Your life is a lesson. Some lessons are harder than others, but the reality is that you chose every milestone in your life before you set foot in your earthly, physical body. You chose your parents, where you will live, who you will love, the loves that you will lose, your children; the list is endless. It feels very controlling if you look at it from a distance, but in actuality your life feels very much uncontrolled doesn’t it? One day you are living a life of normality, of happiness, and then the next day something hits you like a bolt of lightening, a change so substantial that you feel you could never have predicted or chosen the course of events. In actual fact, you will have chosen that milestone. It will be one of the lessons that you have chosen for yourself, but you will have forgotten the plan for your life as soon as you become a physical being.
Every stage of your life is a lesson. Everyone has challenges. Some people’s challenges are so much harder than others. Their lessons are tough and when you watch over them you wonder how they can bear the pain, but most do and often with a laugh and a smile. Of course there are good times. Few people choose a life of absolute pain or suffering. Interspersed between the sad times, the bad times, are periods of happiness and moments of absolute joy. Why would you not choose a life of complete and utter happiness? The truth is that life is a lesson. If you only experienced joy, you would never appreciate the smile that someone gives you when you are feeling down. You would never appreciate the good times, the moments of love, the birth of your child, the embrace of a loved one. If life was constant happiness, with no suffering and pain, you would not learn. You would not come home to me a more developed being. To experience happiness, you need to experience sadness. To experience joy you need to understand the pain that can come to your heart when something terrible happens. Life is a lesson. It is a lesson in love, a lesson in understanding, a lesson in tolerance. The list is endless and, for each of you, your lessons will be different.
